Where the data comes from

Each product starts from its Amazon.com listing: title, brand, price, feature bullets and the technical table. We normalize every spec into a typed field with a single unit (pounds, inches, quarts, watt-hours, °F). When the listing is incomplete, we fill gaps only from the manufacturer's official page, and record that source on the product page. Anything we cannot confirm stays blank and shows as “—”. We never estimate a spec.

Editor scores

We do not publish editor scores for products we have not tested hands-on, so the score radars stay empty. If we add hands-on scores later, the rules per category will be listed here.

Prices

Prices are USD snapshots from Amazon.com, shown with the date and time we captured them (Eastern Time). Amazon prices change often, so a price is hidden automatically once it is more than 24 hours old and replaced with “—” and a link to check the current price on Amazon. The price on Amazon at the time of purchase is the one that applies.

Reviews

We do not publish buyer reviews, star ratings or review counts. Read them on the Amazon listing.

Tiers instead of stars

Each category has a budget pick, a best-value pick and a premium pick. Tiers reflect the product class and its price band, not a test score. We do not show star ratings or invented scores, and we have not tested these products hands-on.

Pictures

Each product is shown with an AI-generated illustrative image made from that product's own listing description (type, shape, colour and key visible features). These images are labelled “Illustrative image · may differ from the actual product”; they are not photos of the product, carry no logos and are not copied from Amazon or brand images, so details can differ from the real item. Open the Amazon listing to see the real product. Banner and scene photos are royalty-free stock photos of generic camping scenes, never of a specific product — see photo credits.
